Strategy Development

Back to all Services

Ursa Major Associates approaches clients’ needs for strategy in a way they cannot do for themselves. As consultants we are by definition outsiders looking in. We take a “Google Earth” type of approach, at first orienting ourselves from a satellite’s point of view. From this global perspective we observe atmospheric conditions, surrounding terrain, seasonal patterns and the positioning of market forces. We then help our clients to see where they show up in competitive landscapes, where their customers reside and we point out the directional movements of threatening territorial advances.

In a disciplined process we next zoom in to examine our clients’ proximities, observing and ultimately analyzing their own specific business conditions. Then we help them to see who they are in their own eyes and more importantly how they appear to their customers. We show them where they are going and assist them in deciding where they ultimately want to be. Then we help them plan the most effective course to get there.

Ursa Major Consultants apply expert perspectives to strategy development work, based on years of comparative analysis of industry best–practices and real world operating experiences. We marshal the appropriate resources from within our clients’ organizations and from our own portfolio of domain, functional and geographic assets. We work closely with clients to ensure the strategy that is developed is rational, appropriate, actionable and achievable for the organization. Not to be confused with “strategy shelf-ware”, our work is bespoke, poignant and deliberately applicable to the client’ specific needs.
